Nov 07

Welcome to the November issue of your newsletter. This month is a very special month as it contains the birthdays of my mother, my father and myself! At each of my birthdays I become somewhat introspective and begin to evaluate where I am in life now, where I’m going and how I’m going to get there. Even though this is your newsletter, I’ll be talking to myself as well. I hope you enjoy!

In This Issue

  • A Television Appearance
It all started with a television interview I was asked to give by a network in the Chicago area. This particular network covers much of the U.S., Direct TV and over 170 other countries – so it was a pretty big deal. I even flew down the night before just so I would be fresh and ready the next day. Giving myself plenty of time, I left the hotel for the television studio with directions in hand and a song on my lips! Well, the song eventually turned into a shout as I realized I had taken a wrong exit and may now be late for this all important interview! Since I took the typical man’s approach to asking directions, I continued to drive, knowing the television station would be just around the next corner? Was it? No!

    Ask For Directions
When I finally had enough, I threw in the towel, pulled over and asked for directions. A very nice lady at a convenience store happily took her time and told me exactly where I had gone wrong and then how to reach my destination. As I turned the car around and headed back from where I came something very powerful hit me. How many times have we written down our goals and received directions on how to attain them, but somehow found ourselves going down the wrong road? Moreover, when we realized we were going down the wrong road, as things just didn’t look right, why did we continue? What are our choices?

    Get Back On Course
First, when you feel uneasy or uncomfortable traveling down the road in life you’ve chosen, don’t ignore those feelings, embrace them. Embrace uneasiness, as it is that very feeling that gives you an awareness that you may be traveling down the wrong road. But remember, for every wrong road there is a right road! When asking someone for directions to the “right road” in your life, make sure you ask someone who has been where you want to go! If I had asked someone in the convenience store for directions who had never been where I was going, I would have never found my way. Only take direction and consultation from someone who has successfully been where you want to go – anything else will be a waste of your time.

    Destination or Destiny?
Once I began traveling on the correct road, things began to “feel right”. Anxiety began to leave and calmness settled in. As I saw signs that matched my new directions everything began fit into place. Upon making my last left- hand turn towards the television station I notice a large graveyard on both sides of the street. As I drove through the graveyard I didn’t see headstones but I saw dreams that had never been realized, gifts that had never been unwrapped and talents that had not been fully utilized. Had all these people traveled down the wrong road in their life? Did they just show up at a random destination or had some actually fulfilled their true destiny on this earth?

    It’s Not Too Late
If you are reading this newsletter today there is still time to fulfill your destiny in life. However, to show up at your destiny you must be on the right road, otherwise, you may just wind up at a random destination with unrealized dreams. If you are feeling uneasy about your life or feel “there is more to life than this”, embrace that feeling and use it as encouragement to pull over and ask for directions. Read a good book about what you really want to do in life, call someone who is now doing what you want to do or take a class pertaining to your dream. No matter how small, take a step today that will put you on the road to your dreams, goals and desires. YOU are the only one who can turn yourself around and begin moving towards your dreams. Do something today and experience the energy and excitement of a new direction!

    From a Biblical Perspective
When God says He will give you the desires of your heart, that means He will place those desires in your heart. When He gives you a desire, He has also equipped you with everything you’ll need to achieve those desires. The word desire comes from the Latin root word sire which means of the father. When your father God places a desire in your heart, chaos and uneasiness exists only when you are not walking towards that desire. As you travel down the road of life, if the desire in your heart is not congruent with your daily activity, restlessness ensues. Embrace that restlessness and see it as a sign for you to pull over and ask for directions, moving you towards the destiny God has prepared for you. Remember, the word of God says: Luke 11:9- 10 – And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened (KJV). Keep asking, seeking and knocking – you will find the road that will lead you to your wildest dreams – the wonderful destiny that God has prepared for His children! God bless.
